Huang Xiaoqing from Dataa Robotics: Robotics is a great industry in the 6G era

Recently, under the guidance of National 6G Technology R&D Promotion Working Group and the general expert group, the 2023 Global 6G Technology Conference hosted by the Future Mobile Communications Forum and Purple Mountain Laboratory was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Huang Xiaoqing, chairman and CEO of Dataa Robotics, was invited to participate in the sub-forum of "Technology Development Trends in 2030" and he delivered a keynote speech at the forum.

At the conference, Huang Xiaoqing pointed out that 1G is actually a misunderstanding, and there is no 1G in theory. In 2G, standards such as GSM, PDH, and PHS appeared catering to the needs of mobile phones. 3G was born out of the demand for network usage, while 4G solved the problem of high-speed Internet access and is a successful generation of mobile communication technology.

At present, the industry is exploring 5G application scenarios. Huang Xiaoqing believes that robots application is one of those scenes. Wireless networks are 1 billion times faster than neural networks. If robots are developed to be as smart as humans, they must become a communication system with a brain in the cloud. "5G+AI" robots could transform to "6G+AI” in the 6G era.Huang Xiaoqing quoted Softbank Chairman Masayoshi Son's prediction in 2017: by 2047, there will be 10 billion robots in human society. "If robots can help humans do all the work that humans are unwilling to do, this prediction will definitely come true. How much bandwidth will 10 billion robots use? This industry must be multiplied many times more than the communications industry and the automobile industry combined , surely the greatest industry of mankind."

From the perspective of communication, Huang Xiaoqing deems that the industry needs to achieve two things: the first is the dynamic sharing of bandwidth, hoping that all operators can use the spectrum. The second is the cognition of radio to achieve active obstacle avoidance.Huang Xiaoqing also discussed the space-earth integration that the industry is in dire need of. It is impossible for self-driving cars to drive for good under the coverage of 5G, but it may be possible by satellite + 5G and 6G. Therefore, a unified mobile communication architecture that integrates 6G, space and earth is the result that the industry expects.
